I am a new Dish Network customer and not even a month into my 2 year service contract I’m already extremely disappointed with the company and their decptive practices.
When I originally ordered their service I told them I wanted HD service. They ran their credit check and then informed me that it would cost me $123.99 for installation and 1st month of service. They also told me that if I sign up for autopay I could get HD for free. This seemed perfectly reasonable. So I paid and set up an installation appointment. I also specifically asked if I would be able to pick my own billing date and I was assured that I could indeed do that.
On the date of the installation the installer tells me that if I want HD service I will need to pay an addional $200! Not only was this outrageous after being told I’d get HD for free when I ordered the service but after having already paid $123.99 for installation I could not afford the extra money so I opted to get standard service for which they charged me an additional $7.
I get my 1st bill notification in my email and look it up. The bill states that my next payment is due on the 27th. Unfortunately I can’t pay that bill until the 3rd of next month so I get online and look to see if there is an option on my account for changing my billing date. There is none. So I contact customer service via their online chat and I’m told by the CSR that it is not possible to change the billing date and I need to pay my bill by the 27th or my service will be interrupted. If a billing date can not be changed why did they tell me it could be when I ordered the service? Why was I told HD would be free after they ran a credit check but then told it would cost me $200 more on the date of installation? I really don’t appreciate being lied to when I order service from a company especially since I am now stuck in a 2 year contract with them. I assume this means I’m going to be slapped with a late payment fee too. Probably every single month since the billing date is at the END of the month when I’m usually broke rather than the begnning of the month when my account is flush. I get the feeling they do this intentionally in order to garner additional profit off of late fees.
I’ll be terminating my contract as soon as it is cheap enough to do so… that is when the ETF is less than my monthly bill and I will NEVER again go through Dish Network. I’m going back to cable. Cable has it’s own problems but I have never been deceived by them.
