7/15/09–Legacy Van Lines moved my belonging from Orange County to Austin TX. The movers were extremely unprofessional, unaware that I’d paid extra to crate 5 pieces (a protective service @ $50 per item! = $250 EXTRA); I brought it up & they said the materials were in the truck. Though the took my money, they did NOT crate the items and most arrived broken. Contract violation!
A glass table had a leg completely broken off, my $1000 modern entertainment center was dragged. There was a ton of damage, and many items never arrived at all.
The company would not sell me the extra insurance no matter how many times I asked (but they offered crating?) though my rep seemed to “forget” to include the info I wanted. She never said she wouldn’t sell it, she just never got back to me, all 8 times, even though her favorite catchphrase is “Not a problem”. The day of my move I asked Eric to add the insurance to my contract. He said he couldn’t do that; Virginia should have. Of course I was stuck since I had to be out on the 15th. Convenient…only now I see it was intentionally evasive.
It took the movers 9 hours to load a 1 bd + den / 2 ba, already boxed. How many phone calls and cigarettes do they need? They kept asking me if they should wrap this or that in a blanket (that service was included in the cost. Why were they asking? Aren’t they the movers???)
When the movers unloaded days later, things were broken, so I did not tip them. After signing the bill of lading and writing down the extent of damage, one of the drivers came up and angrily asked if I’d “forgotten something”. (Really?! With all that was broken?!) I was intimidated, so I gave him a tip. That just demonstrates even MORE unprofessionalism.
I filed my itemized claim with Legacy mid-Auguest. They have never acknowledged the complaint (supposed to within 30 days), sent an offer, made a single phone call to me, though each time I’ve called, they’ve promised to get the claim out. Still…nothing. I requested arbitration info, and (of course) I’ve gotten nothing. This is the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. I filed with the FMCSA too.
