In November of 2006 I needed to use Directory Asisiistance fom a payphone.
The recorded voice stated Directory assistance service was provided by McleodUSA and It would cost me 50 cents for the requested phone number. I deposited the money, but the number I was given was incorecct. It cost me an additional 50 cents calling the incorrect number i was given.
Since I did not get what I paid for; I should be entitled to a refund .
I tried to E-mail the company through the McleodUSA website, and received a response for further information. I replied and provided the erroneus number their service gave me and the correct number I had obtained from a more reliable source. No response.
After about four weeks; I sent an E-mal expressing my dissatisfacion for not receiving any kind of reply.
I received an e-mail that the company is not equiped to provide refunds.
I also tried to call the company about the situation. After an exhorbatant amont of time wading through their automated menus; I was connected to a woman who said her name was Julie.
This Julie woman would not forward me to anyone in customer service or anywhere else because I do not have an account with the company. I tried to explain that i hasve no account and I was calling regarding the wrong number the company’s directory assistance service gave me and I would like to recover the dollar I had lost due to the bad information.
I was once again told that without an account number she would not forward my call to anyone. I asked to speak with her supervisor. She refused to transfer me.
I tried calling a few days later, but Julie still refused to let me speak with anyone.
It is a year later and I am still $1.00 poorer.
