Eagle Optics  – Fell far short of usual excellent customer service

I was about to leave for a week-long trip to the US West, and emailed a query on July 2 about a scope I wanted delivered to my destination that received no response (it was after hours). I went ahead and placed the order on July 3 (Friday), and again received no response. At the end of the day, feeling very nervous about the whole thing, I went through the site page by page and found — small red print on the “Store Hours” page — that they would be closed on FRIDAY, on Saturday July 4, and as usual on Sunday. Best they would have been able to do would be get me the scope after half the trip was over. I canceled the order. SOMEWHERE during the checkout or order process the fact they were out of commission for three full days should have come up. Very disappointed, as I could have gone to a different vendor and had the same scope delivered in time had I not trusted EO to come through as they usually do. The single star reflects unacceptable practice; staff were as usual friendly. But singularly unapologetic, I have to note.
